1 Repetition Max

Last week I was discussing the 1 rep max.  I want to provide additional information as to calculating this. Please perform this test with a certified personal trainer or at least use a spotter.

One Repetition Maximum is the weight you can perform an exercise with one time. Using a calculator is usually the best and safest way to determine your 1RM, based on the amount of times you can lift a less heavy weight.

Use the below calculator to approximate what your 1RM is. After you warm up, use a weight with which you can perform less than 10 repetitions before you reach failure. Enter those numbers in the calculator to find out your 1 RM.
